If you have a Columbus Metropolitan Library card, rejoice! You can access tons of free streaming resources online. Don’t have a library card? CML is expediting online applications and will email you a new library card number within 48 hours of applying for one through this portal.
Once you have your library card number, check out some of the following sites where you can access free films, audiobooks, ebooks and more, just by signing in with your library card number and pin.

Your CML card gives you access to seven film rentals per month. (Tip: if you have an Ohio State email address, you can also sign in with that for unlimited film rentals). Did you miss a Julia Reichert screening at the Wex last fall? Kanopy’s got you covered! Reichert’s films Union Maids (1976, pictured at top of page), Growing Up Female (1971), and Seeing Red (1983) are all available for streaming.
With your library card, you can virtually borrow up to 10 titles per month, including audiobooks, music, movies, and TV shows. You can catch the short film Crumbs by Miguel Llansó, part of our virtual presentation of the guest-curated series Speculative Africa, on Hoopla. Other recommendations: Buster Keaton shorts and Neil Young's soundtrack to Jim Jarmusch’s Dead Man.

The library's catalog has a wide selection of audiobooks and ebooks to choose from. If all copies of a title are in use, you can place a hold on them and CML will notify you via email once it becomes available. Supplement your viewing of Crumbs with guest curator Namwali Serpell’s debut novel The Old Drift or Saeed Jones’ haunting memoir How We Fight for Our Lives. Or revisit Barbara Hammer’s legacy by checking out the ebook version of Hammer: Making Movies Out of Life and Sex.
