Looking for something to watch? Our friend J. Hoberman has some summery suggestions. Writing for the New York Review of Books, the veteran film critic has a new list of viewing recommendations, including the gorgeous restored version of the 1959 doc Jazz on a Summer's Day (pictured above), which we presented in February and which is now widely available via the distributor Kino Lorber; a collection of films focused on the Olympics from the Criterion Channel; and part three of French filmmaker Eric Rohmer's Comedies and Proverbs series, Pauline at the Beach.

The publication also has more recommendations as part of its "My Quarantine" series, such as author and Russia expert Sophie Pinkham speaking up for the "ramen Western" Tampopo, writer and poet Sarah Manguso on the comfort of the British series Father Brown and Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries, and Hoberman on recreating a version of the Cannes Film Fest at home.

Read J. Hoberman's "A Virtual Summer" via the New York Review of Books.
