Situated in the north Everglades and not far from West Palm Beach, Pahokee is a small town known for its cane sugar fields and poor economic prospects, with some of Florida's highest rates of unemployment. The film observes Na'Kerria Nelson, Jocabed Martinez, Junior Walker, and BJ Crawford as they navigate the sometimes exciting, sometimes heartbreaking rite-of-passage rituals of senior year while making profound decisions about their futures. As they do, the pressure of Pahokee's hardships weighs on their shoulders—the community has placed all hopes for opportunity on them, the next generation. (112 mins., digital video)
